2017 Sony Open: Photo Discussion Thread

Thanks to GolfWRX Member tod071 for these photos from the Sony Open in Hawaii, the first full-field event on the PGA Tour in 2017.

The tournament takes place on the island of Oahu at Waialae Country Club, which will play as a par-70 for the event and measures a little more than 7100 yards from the tips.

Last week's SBS Championship winner Justin Thomas is in the field, as well as major champions Jason Dufner, Justin Rose, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth, Jimmy Walker and Zach Johnson. So too is the hottest golfer on the planet, Hideki Matsuyama, as well as last year's winner Fabian Gomez.

Wow!, Monday Part 1 the Old Adidas White with Green Adipure LTD. Who is wearing them? Those are still my favorite shoes, they are so comfortable, its like wearing slippers.

These two putters caught my eye. The 1W Ping version at the top and the black Cameron Newports. I'm assuming the Cameron is going to be tour only but I wish they would come out with a lineup that was similar to the original 1996 gun blue model.

I think the Ping wide and the B60 are from a series soon to be released in Japan and perhaps in the USA...I just don't know. Sigma G Series. http://clubping.jp/product/product2017_p.html

 

I am a total sucker for the B60! It looks like the Sigma G has an elastomer layer behind a metal TR insert.

Does anyone know the specs of Bryson's putter? To me it looks like it is 90* but the legal limit is 80*. Clearly he wouldn't be playing if he were breaking the rules but that putter just looks SOOOO upright to me.

I know that in the grade scheme of things, it’s not important but this is a pet peeve of mine.

 

Saggy pant legs.

 

Makes me nuts.

 

Especially on a professional golfer that gets paid to wear certain clothes. Get your pants hemmed by a proper tailor.

 

Floppy, sloppy, elephant legs. Yuck!

 

Whew, OK I feel better now
