Ben Crane Titleist Staffer

I watched Ben Crane today and saw him on 15 pull out a white Taylormade fairway wood, he is a full staff bag player at titleist, i just thought it was intersting when he has 910f on his titleist web page, do you think the taylormade is better?

Any clue what TM FW it was (R11 or Superfast/Superfast TP 2.0)??

I saw him game a 910F from the pics in Phoenix but I know he also used the '07 Burner TP fairway for a couple years too.

He used V-Steel 3 and 5 woods forever. Not surprised to see him with at TM fairway. Seems like he likes a little bit larger head than Titleist's usual offerings.

You realize everybody likes different stuff right? Just because Ben Crane likes TM fairways doesn't mean its a better club than a 910. You can say that for a lot of staff players using different clubs. Mahan uses Callaway wedges, certainly doesn't mean they're better than Ping wedges.

And to think that he doesn't play a Titleist putter either. He uses an Odyssey instead of some tricked out Cameron. Heck Tim Clark(Odyssey), Zach Johnson(SeeMore), and Steve Stricker(Odyssey) all have found success with putters that don't bear the name of Titleist or Cameron. Fairway woods seem to be tough clubs to get comfortable/used to for tour player's and they seem to hang onto old reliable for quite some time.

i could not tell if it was superfast or R11, but he pulled two out of the bag on 15 and still laid up, i just think he put them in the bag, i saw him with the titleist from some of the pics we see each week.

I remember reading in his What's in the Bag portion in GD that he had used that White Hot since college! Talk about sticking with a club for 12 years.

According to his slow play video he has experimented with roller skates being pulled behind a golf cart to speed his play up.

Anyone get a good look at his fws this week at hilton head? It had a shaft with R11 paint and looked like a white head that had its crown painted (changed) to black. It could have been light playing tricks but it seemed to have a white line where the crown meets the face and a white stripe around the back and sides. Here's the only picture I could find and it's not the best angle or close up at all.

Mickelson used a V Steel 3 wood when he was on staff with Titleist. These guys are very particular about fairway woods and putters, and often stick with one brand that they feel most comfortable with.

many guys use stuff that aren't made by the manufactuters that they have deals with. For example Luke Donald... pretty much a full blown Mizuno player right? TM driver. Guys will play ultimately what they play best... afterall it's about the money right? LOL... never go by the headcover on a club.

I am a Titleist staff member, and Im sure that the PGA tour deals are way different than my deal. However, I am required to carry 11 Titleist clubs, and MUST have a Titleist driver. The other 3 clubs in my bag can be from any manufacturer. Just thought I'd give you guys my personal experience...

That's interesting that they chose the driver as the mandatory club. I would have thought that irons would be the mando item but I guess if they want to push driver sales, that's the way to do it.

Driver counts are important since it's a big cash cow right now for equipment companies. I would put it right behind balls on sales/profit. We often spend way more on driver replacing them 2-3 times a year. Really all that matters from a general advertising standpoint it's the Titleist hat, bag, and headcovers.

Played with Charley Hoffman last year, has a Callaway X-Hot 3 wood with a UST that hes had forever and an Adams Hybrid. Fairways and Hybrids are the clubs you will see guys leave their brand on the most, mainly because they usually aren't mandatory requirements as part of the 10-12 club deal.
