That may be the case. I suppose that depends on the person and the instructors bias. I've been using that grip since the 90s, got me to a 2, now 5ish, and still hitting the ball straight or as needed.

IMO, the picture distorts the proper trail hand position. Look at the picture below provided by Hogan 5. It has the club laying half across the knuckles and under palm pad. I have been using this Vardon grip since taking up golf. The right hand merely solidifies the grip with the right little finger riding between the left index and second finger, NOT on top. The left hand portion of the grip is key.

What could be expected by a professional fitter and what you realize may be two different outcomes. In overall terms, you should gain some yards as well as tighten up dispersion. Whether those work with your feel, is another topic.

Ask yourself is your skill level and awareness sufficient to detect the new technology, and do you value your game despite seeing yourself as a weekend warrior? I play 1-2 times per week, with no range time yet able to detect differences in technology, and I don't see myself as a weekend warrior.

Living and playing in SOCAL, AZ and HI islands, I am used to heat. Typically, I carry 2-3 gloves. The glove I wear, I take off after my shot and put it back on for the next; that way it doesn't develop sweat stains. Also my hands don't sweat profusely. If it's near 100', sweat can develop around the velco area of the glove, like last Sunday. I'll wear it to finish the round then, if bad, thrown it away.

LOL IMO a cut shot is a purposely crafted slice. Most of the time, I don't see conditions that merit a draw or fade, much less a cut/slice, so I hit it straight. But now and again, conditions merit a cut/slice or draw/hook. The last cut shot was on a par 5, 2nd shot. Using 3i, cut the ball around the left side of a huge tree that stands in the middle of the fairway. If my tee shot is a little more right of tree center, then it's a low draw using a 3i or 4i.

I tested graphite as light as in 50ish, 65ish, and 70ish; I couldn't slow my tempo down consistently, and as a result, I was erratic, with too much left dispersion. Overall, been using composite since 2018, before that PX 6.0 (120g) for 15+yrs. The change was not for physical reasons just wear and tear, comfort and distance as I fight father time. However, I did go back to steel recently, out of my love for PX Red 6.0 (lighter 110g version); it only lasted a few months. They are great shafts, but no gains. Didn't like the feel on poor strikes, so reverted to Pro 95i tour spec stiff graphite in 2i-9i, and the same shaft, only 116g in PW and DG Tour Issue steel in 52 & 58. As much as I enjoy steel in my wedges for feel, steel is no longer the answer for my full-shot game.

In hindsight, it really depends on the day. Some days my long game or iron play is a solid factor in posting a decent score. Other days, my wedges are my saving score grace on every hole. I believe the more accurate approach is to have an all around game. To effectively use all 14 clubs at one time or another. If one aspect isn't working, another part picks up and carries the game.

At 74, I can assure the OP, he's NOT old. If I were 55, I'd be hitting every club longer. This weekend got the juices flowing swinging rather well. Felt like I was getting max out of my shafts over 6400yds. Hit many solid shots and GIR; wedges worked too. I was happy. Unfortunatly, with age, it takes a bit to get the juicies flowing. Thus, first hole I was swinging like a hack, I doubled #1, finally started swinging at 3, but pooped out on the last 3 holes, so walked off with 79. Two weeks back it was hot out, so I was swinging freely and finished with 76. Plus I was playing a course I really like. Though that was respectable, I want to shoot my age. If you want to get better, consider regular exercise, practice as often as you can, and play as often as possible, and stay patient.

In Jack's day he had AP, GP, Travino and Seve, etc. Scottie has his current (as you say) uncomfortable competitors, who win. So, IMO, what you suggested is normal in any given field. Have a pleasant day.

For most people feel is NOT quantifiable, while fit is. The question is which shaft does what it's told and which might not do what you envision. That is how I do it. I am 100% feel player. The best way I can describe "feel" is I look at a shot and my instinct tells me what club to pull. Sometimes my brain interjects, that's when confusion shows it's ugly face. In those instances, I tend to take the longer of the two, and most of the time it works out. Point: Feeling is often times reacting to ego, and ego is often wrong. One man's 2 cents.

Every golfer eventually runs into something similar. How soon that is or if it even happens depends on the mental capacity of the person in question. I don't see it soon, but eventually. Taking into account how Scottie generally behaves and acts under exteme pressure, the only wall he hits is the day he gets up, puts his pants on, looks at his bank account and says to his wife, we got enough? If she says yes, it's up to you, he's likely to walk away. I say that because i did something similar not long ago.

I wouldn't say, Scottie is the the next Tiger, but maybe more like Jack Nicklaus.

As I see him, he can maintain focus while others are easily distracted. I am that same way. I see the ball and hit it, find it and hit it again, and don't change what works. Sometimes the problem can be simple, right in front of someone's face, like the grip is off, while most others delve into changing all sorts of things, hoping.

Here's one for ya, born left-handed, became ambidextrous around 6ish. I am right-eye dominant, and do most things right-handed, but write using both hands, shoot using both, knife skills left-handed, throw and kick right-side, golf right-handed, but good left-handed putter using the putter's backside flange. I have a slightly open stance, neutral 1 o'clock grip, somewhat short backswing, fast transition, and tempo and I rarely, if ever, see impact, but see before impact and after and generally hit the ball straight with a moderate trajectory.

I disagree. Scottie puts his pants on like everyone else. He's up against competition in every event. The only difference is his mentality. and how he tackles challenging conditions. When he makes a mistake, like eveyrone else, he makes a birdie after, he stays focused and doesn't lose track of his ability or confidence. He remains calm.

Trajectory and spin are two , that assist with gapping issues. I've always played a 47' PW, my other set of 620 MB's has a 47' PW. Since 2023 I have played T100. Recently decided to switch out the 46' set PW for Vokey SM10 46' PW, installed heavier shaft only the same profile, had it bent to 47, and .05' flat and like it much better. It sets up in my eye nicely, and it added 1' of bounce, or 11' which has its benefits. Because it was bent weak, no offset issues.

One of the reasons I switched from set PW to SM9 then to SM10 series is Vokey moved the SM10 COG higher up the face with each wedge, bringing the flight down.

That was Scotties way of telling all the crazy golfers out there with singlular minds, that golf, winning, and the money don't make a person happy. His morals and values guide his happiness. Having a healthy mentality makes the choices and life easier.

As I see it, 47, 52, & 58 save the score, while 3i-9i play a pivotal role in getting my ball on the green or close enough to use the wedges. Even if Driver is in the fairway, I am still pulling a long or mid iron, and I can miss the fairway and still have GIR.

Put the same shaft in the Mizuno as in 716 PW, and see.

I don't use a mini driver. IMO, Mini driver is not much different than my ole RL Zeidler Absolute 8*, 288cc driver head I played. Tee height is in relation to the shot I hope to create. Tee it slightly low for bullets and a bit higher to catch the wind trough.

The difference might be tied to the CB of 716 PW vs. Mizuno T24 Blade. IMO PW shaft should be the same as the rest of the clubs. I replaced my set T100 PW (46') with Vokey SM10 46.10F, bent to 47.11 and put in the same Fuji Pro 115i Tour Spec stiff shaft @D3 sw, that's in T100, and works great. Yep, it's 2-3 yds shorter than the T100 PW, but it's consistent and feels right. Same shaft profile as the rest of my irons, only heavier. PS, I had 2i-PW 716 CB in the bag from 2017-2019, before moving to 620 MB. They are fine clubs; never had any issues.

I don't have the right answer, but it on my phone if I need clarification. It's easily remedied, stop swinging the club so close to the ball. For reference, I been playing since the 90s, and before I address the ball, I take a practice swing but never near enough that I could hit my ball. For that reason I've never needed to know the rule. Just saying... LOL
