I've occasionally taken an obvious premium ball in good shape but i then also donate one from my bag. Usually one that i found on course or hit for a round.

2 weeks ago Griffin was a mortal lock pick. Now 2 MCs later (barely, by 1 and 2 shots) it's like "Ben who?" That's why it's so pointless to discuss this even now . Never mind 6 or 12 mos ago. The next month will tell the tale for 7-12.

Beginner golfer concerned with direction of lessons
bcjim replied to cbrown1170's topic in Instruction & Academy
Was going to type nearly this same thing. Plenty of beginner golfers, unfortunately, probably don't come back for further lessons if they pay $100 or more for lesson 1 and that involves 45min of where the feet, ball, and club actuall go vs where the average beginner thinks they should go. -
Comments on a review "elsewhere" are amusingly roasting them. The review itself was unsurprisingly positive.

It was poor behavior on his part. No question about that. In no way am i excusing it. It's also a petty response, imo, by the club. Instead of handling it gracefully, they decided to have a d!** measuring contest over some wicker.

How Many Major Championships will Scottie Scheffler Win?
bcjim replied to AintNoHobby's topic in Tour Talk
11 is my guess but my uncertainty level is high on both ends. A lot depends on how he ages. Gary Player aged amazing and part of it was his lifestyle. But lots of it was genetic. -
The promoter of the event paid the $1M apiece. Directly or indirectly. And this is exactly how you build a strong operation for your entire membership. You leverage your stars in events like this that greatly benefits the stars individually and the organization as a whole. If a major part of the tour income is media rights (and it is, to be sure) you have to protect those media rights. You can't charge NBC a billion dollars and at the same time give away content to producers of things like the match so they can sell it with much less skin in the game. Business 101.

2025 ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open (Jul 24 - 27)
bcjim replied to Argonne69's topic in LPGA/Ladies golf talk
I think a lot of them just dont fancy a potential survival test. Much less 2 in a row. Slower ball speed players can be made to look foolish in a hurry when the wind cranks up. -
Can I throw a golf ball before hitting a shot?
bcjim replied to Snarkesor's topic in Rules of Golf and Etiquette
Of the countless casual, rule ignoring, ball rolling, mullingan taking golfers I've played with, I've never seen one rub a green. -

This one i always chuckle at. What would rubbing the surface even accomplish? Was it a big problem at some point in golf history? Who were the notorious surface rubbers? -
Guy is a blessing and a curse. There isn't anyone that doesn't appreciate the result and talent.. In the press room he is no less interesting than Tiger was. Which is to say both were completely uninteresting in that regard. Tiger said little to nothing of substance and Scottie gets philosophical....ON course, however, Tiger was the Alpha dog and carried the sport on his back like it was nothing. Scottie is like watching vanilla ice cream melt.

Should be as good a July 22nd as you could ever ask for at Blue Mash. Finally a few days of dry-ish air in this horribly humid DC summer. UV index though will be very high and little to no shade on that course.

You have it backwards. The majors are what they *want* to play in. They "grind it out" playing those silly, boring liv events because they *have* to fulfill their contractual obligations. You make it sound like they're holding their noses and teeing it up at majors. Literally you have it completely backwards.

Normal stableford has no negative scores. It's a great system to play. I don't think it's a great system for a tour event, normal or modified.. It's just foreign and not what people are accustomed to. Even i glanced at the leaderboard a few times over the weekend and my eyes glazed over and i moved on..
-
I had been thinking this Open is just kind of a dud all around. I really have not been inclined to follow as much as I do week to week normal events even. Maybe just me. However were on like page 42 here and last years thread went 76 pages..

He's 5 shots behind Justin Leonard.

Have you watched any other sports in your life?
-
I don't see a connection between Lowry's practice swing and the ball movement. Add in that the movement is miniscule and, if anything, unhelpful and what are we doing here? Also, Scottie wins. The end.
-
Li only on 8. Be funny if he runs away with it. Isn't he the guy that got into with some fan that was giving him swing advice during a tournament earlier this year?
-
That i can go along with.

Don't like. I'd much rather hear the US radio crew. I can understand them and they dont spend half the time reading fan mail from yutzs i don't know or care about.
-
Not sure I'm in love with this course to be honest. Seems crammed together and on tv, there is inadequate contrast. I can't follow the ball, i can't tell where they're aiming. .. doesn't seem all that "linksy" either.
-
Lucas Glover hot start.
-
Also, the radio coverage is not great. Way to much uninteresting banter and reading boring missives from Larry in NC who's listening in his septic pumping truck. The usual US crew does much better here though i do think i heard Carl Paulson's voice in the mix at least.
