  1. I think part of the issue with the fines is that Greg Norman told these guys that they won't ever be fined or kicked out of the PGA Tour or the DP World Tour. But they were, so LIV has offered to pay for the fines for the time being. But after the Ryder Cup this year when Rahm and Hatton's cases go to court, they will again lose like the other players did. LIV will just say, "We covered the fines when we told you they wouldn't be any, but now that there will be you and you are aware of them, they are on you."
  2. I think most everyone wants to see Rahm and Hatton and possibly Sergio at the Ryder Cup. The event would be weakened if they weren't there. Adelaide is a big event and some others draw decently, but overall the numbers are not what LIV and the PIF would have imagined this far in. I think they are getting a few more sponsors, but they still aren't even close to being profitable. But who knows if the goal of LIV is to be even profitable on its own. I know MBS says that he just wants GDP growth, but I can't see how LIV is contributing anything much to that.
  3. Yes, pay it themselves. You pay guys $60-300 million to come over and you want me to also pay your $1 million annual fines in perpetuity? Sorry!
  4. Yes but the players and their families are happier than ever while LIV loses a billion a year because the happy golfers bring ridiculously small ratings compared to the money they asked for when joining LIV. All is well, brother!
  5. LIV had been paying DP World Tour fines for LIV players, but will stop after this year. LIV has paid approximately $15 million to keep their players eligible to play on the Ryder Cup. Courts have ruled against LIV players so far, and Rahm and Hatton’s cases are coming up next. Rahm has said he’ll never pay for fines, but so did Sergio and his was paid his eventually. The LIV money faucets are beginning to run a little dry.
  6. What’s a million for Rahm and Hatton? Nothing. Maybe it’s just the principle of the matter, but just pay your fines if the Ryder Cup is so important to you. And they will.
  7. They should have left it. Made Amen corner more challenging.
  8. I can’t see it hurting his brand. But this was only always about Grant and what the Tour could do for him. It was never a “I help you, you help me.”
  9. They are not THE strongest fields, but close to it. That’s why you don’t get as many OWGR points for them. As far as Justin Thomas is concerned, he’s had a 9, 2, 1, 2, 9, 6, 2, 3, 7, 5, 5 in eligible recent events. He’s playing pretty well.
  10. He’s played really well in Signature events and other strong field events the last 2 years
  11. Played Cantigny yesterday. Great service from top to bottom there. Course was in excellent condition even though the greens weren’t running that fast. Man, the practice putting green is huge! Has to be over an acre. My only complaint was the driving range grass was too long - probably over an inch. The new renovation on Woodside is nice. I think they gave you some more space to hit your drive on the 2nd hole. On the par 5 7th at Hillside I hit one of the longest drives of my life at 360 yards. I had a wedge into the green, but 3 putted for par of course. The new turf on Hillside is still growing in. It’s a little firm compared to Woodside, but still nice shape. What stood out to me was how few balls marks there were. Players actually repair them at Cantigny!
  12. He had me until this: “Not saying that I wouldn’t have taken the money, were I in their spikes.” It takes two to tango and LIV/PIF and the LIV players are all at fault.
  13. Not going to do one last Masters, huh
  14. Phil probably told him to do this
  15. I agree. They are not the problems with NBC’s broadcast.
  16. Phil, the gambler. But he’ll admit when he blows his fortune!
  17. They were waiting for LIV application to be sent before they did that
  18. How is LIV supposed to keep losing a billion a year if they don’t get OWGR points?! So unfair 😂!
  19. Kisner isn’t bad, but not great either. That’s why NBC has Faxon on also. Kisner doesn’t seem to jump right in and there’s often a little dead air when he should be saying something. That will come with time. He does seem to be a little too buddy-buddy with a few players which hurts his credibility. See his comments on blaming Oakmont and the USGA for Clark's locker room bashing.
  20. There is a good formula that already exists, but LIV’s business model won’t allow them to conform to it. This is 100% on LIV and no one else’s fault but theirs.
  21. The rankings don’t really matter apart from getting into majors anyway and the majors have invited LIV players into majors if they deserve it and weren’t already qualified
