  1. remember reading a GD article with Chi Chi about who he thought were the greatest ball strikers ... two of three were Jack and Lee and he specfically mentioned that although they might've preferred the fade overall, they were confident with shotmaking ... mentioned he saw Jack tee an iron shot a bit higher than normal, probably so that he could hit a high draw to a left pin on some hole ... and hit it to 20 ft, or whatever ... I imagine you could legit talk anything with Trevino for several hours ...
  2. no, no ... I'm not reading patiently and skipped that part ... got it ... Soly from NLU was using this website (I think) in their final Open LFKH show ... showed a chart of sg over age with SS's against many others, so looking at the chart as it progresses over time against others .. having the other NLU guys guess who it was ... it was a pretty entertaining bit ... there's Tiger, but then there's SS, at least in this short 4 year run, but he's ahead of everyone else at the same time, and approaches Tiger in some periods ... just a reminder that SS is, at this moment over 4 years, the best since Tiger ... by a decent margin, really ...
  3. How are you getting the 3.28? ... don't see it ... assuming it's a total of some kind, would think it's listed ...
  4. thought you were referring to the fade since you used "whirly bird" ... though what I've seen, he'll hit a draw with his irons in a heartbeat if the shot calls for it ...
  5. ha ... not sure why I put him in there ... he's a dog, for sure ... kind of guy who can win several tournaments over a career and maybe a major or two ... if he were playing professional golf ...
  6. hit plenty of cut iron shots at the Open, if a cut shot is what you're referring to ... par four on the back nine on Saturday (thereabouts; can't remember since I'd been watching golf for 5 hours) ... Rory hits a huge blast down there, but the hole is tucked right with wind off the right ... Rory tries to hit the only shot he's comfortable hitting, esp with a short iron/wedge, the highest draw imaginable ... hits left and moves further left cause of the wind ... 35 ft for birdie ... SS cuts a longer club into the wind and though he's a bit short, it would've been about 15 ft left ... missed the putt, but it was a lot closer than Rory's ... SS hits plenty of cuts ... maybe not with the driver, but with the irons ...
  7. the range of expressions over his game/success is infinitely interesting to me (cause if you're going to spend time thinking about something, might as well be golf) ... he's going to hit a wall, he's burned out, he's on a heater that will end suddenly, he's bored, he's got no competition, he's this, he's that ... and I think Rory will continue to battle and give SS his competition that apparently SS needs ... we've too easily overlooked Rory's career ... PGAt golf is in a great place right now ... I grew up in the nomadic landscape of the '80s and early '90s ... golfers are more fit now, with so much technology ... looking forward to the next 5 years, for sure ... no one's burned out ... nobody's going to look at their bank account and wife and ask "do we have enough?" (silly statement, at best) ... SS and Rory and Xander and the Reeds of the world are going to compete for titles ... can't wait ...
  8. is he trying to 'figure out' how to hit fades? ... scottie's brilliance isn't 'brilliant' ... he moves the ball around more than anyone else (or at least, that I'm aware of) ... no two swings of his are the same ... uphill lie with the ball below your feet? ... he's gonna whirly bird it to get it to cut/draw whatever ... cause he's got the short game to make up for a miss ... BD isn't trying to figure out a fade, as far as I'm aware ... he's publicly stated he needs a better golf ball to go with his swing speed ... not sure where you're getting this "once he figures out a fade" from ...
  9. like everyone in this video, but not sure what they're drinking ... and Nix got a raw deal at Auburn/from Auburn fans, and I say that as a Bama man ... dude had 3 different oc's there and finally said 'enough is enough' ... but I don't see them winning the conference at all ...
  10. it ain't the worst take i've heard ...
  11. ?? ... you think Tiger was going to make some kind of a semi-comeback before SS's run? ... or Rory winning the Masters? ... or that people thought Tiger was going to make a comeback but has decided against it because of SS? ... i'm confused ...
  12. I reckon it'd be pretty sweet to be a member at Sunningdale ... it's a top 20 course, world wide, but it's heathland nature illustrates why I've always thought England has a deeper bench then Scotland for ranked golf courses ...

    2025 3M Open

golfwrx isn't a closed exhibition website where only the 'in' few can start threads ... it's open competition ...
  14. I've not read anyone on any platform that has said Scotty is the new Tiger or Jack ... I've read comparisons with Tiger's statistics, which is not the same as equating SS's accomplishments with Tiger's or Jack's ... literally haven't read anything equating SS to Tiger or Jack in any way ... since SS is at a level that is higher than anyone since Tiger, people are using Tiger for a reference, though comparison is obviously not the equivalent of equating ... have you seen someone claim SS has equaled Tiger? ... I'd like that link ...
  15. just want to point out the myth that everyone keeps alive ... he did not take off from the ft line ... his foot is clearly over the line ...
  16. lol ... when did he complain about the crowd wanting someone else to win? ... good grief, one time he doesn't acknowledge some kids, he becomes an ogre who is greedy and selfish and out to ruin people's lives ... got to love the internet!!
  17. you took a short answer to one question in a press conference to infer that SS is burned out and tired of being on tour ... and you stated he's lost 'that' a bit, 'that' being the satisfaction of chasing a dream ... then, that he's 'showing maturity' with his statement, implying he was struggling to show maturity and find balance ... then, that he's regretting/will regret not enjoying the moment in his career, based on the fact he said at the end of the day, what really fulfills him is being with his family ... then, that with a solid break from golf, he'd 'get back to winning tournaments', despite the fact he'd won some pretty big tournaments this year before giving a somewhat off-the-cuff/stream of conciousness answer in a presser ... but i'm the one with the hot take ... got it ...
  18. oh, my ... horrible for those kids ... hope they survived ...
  19. not into critiquing the commentators of golf, but I'd say his commentary/style met my vibe more than most others, if not all ... those Aussies have a way of endearing themselves to a large cross-section, I guess ... hope there's more golf in his future ...
  20. ?? ... 'bring back Muirfield'? ... it hasn't gone anywhere ... it's about once every ten years ... it's on the rota, along with St Georges, Troon, TOC, Carnoustie, Birkdale, Portrush and a couple of others ... they just haven't announced the scheduling yet ... Turnberry has some issues with the usual lack of room for logistics, in addition to its other issues ...
  21. hot take! ... wins his 4th major but needs to dance around a putt to make it worthwhile ...
