Yes got the 2 mixed up. I think Phil stands alone in terms of longevity, I know Tiger has a longer gap (22 years) between his first major and last major but Phil had a 30 year gap between his first PGAT win and his last PGAT win. He also had a 30 year gap between his first top 10 in a major and his last top 10 in a major (1993 PGA > 2023 Masters). Rory's first top 10 in a major was the 2009 US Open, Scottie's was the 2020 PGA Championship. I don't see any world where Rory contends at the 2039 US Open or Scottie contends at the 2050 PGA Championship. Call me crazy, but I can absolutely see Phil making a run at a Masters or an Open Championship one of these years. He's made the cut at the last 2 Opens and shot 2 rounds under par this year at Portrush.

I’ve seen his pre-round routine and he still uses a practice club w a molded grip.

Watson's career was so weird. An all time great but won all his majors in a 6 year window. I did a little bit of digging and Watson was on tour for a long time. Just for context Arnold Palmer won an event the 3rd year Watson was on tour and Watson won an event during Tiger's 2nd season on tour.

The scheffler cameo was hilarious!

They've got 14 events on the PGAT including 2 majors, the players, Ryder cup/presidents cup. They also show 4 of the women's majors, the Solheim Cup and the LPGA's tour championship as well. That's 20 events by my count and it's not like they’re new to broadcasting golf either. They've been doing it since the 1980s

I listened to that NLU pod/watched their Northern Ireland video and NBC butchered the broadcast awfully last week. Portrush is a superior venue to Quail Hollow yet CBS did a way better job showcasing Quail as a venue. I'd argue NBC gets some of the best venues given with their golf package but continuously fails to showcase the design nuances. Their best effort is the Players but they do that one every year and it's kind of tough to screw up. They were awful at Pinehurst last year but got bailed out since that was an all-time US Open. The most infuriating thing is NBC's coverage of every other sport is really good. SNF is far and away the best broadcast in the NFL. I got Peacock for the Olympics last year and it was worth the money.

Hicks should just stick to Notre Dame Football and the Olympics. He has no business calling golf

Watched it last night and that is 100% what Gilmore went for 🤣. -
Tiger finishing 72 holes isn’t even a guarantee and frankly the game has moved on. Weirdly this feels like 2025 was the first post-Tiger year.
-
What’s your definition of sustaining it? We’re in the 4th year of this now. I can’t think of anyone else in recent memory who’s won 17x and 4 majors plus a gold medal in 4 seasons. To me that’s the definition of dominance

Honest question: would you rather play JCB or TPC Twin Cities the week after the Open? -
I have 0 interest in this tournament. It's not even who's in the field, tpc twin cities just sucks. I've attended this event multiple times and their is 0 challenges outside of water on a few holes. No clue why 3M is putting up $8.4M for this.

Another Player/ Caddie Split: Geno and Joel
Mr.Cleeks replied to UncleJohn’sBand's topic in Tour Talk
Kinda wild that Joel has managed to keep his card for 8 straight years despite all the self doubt. -

I mean the best exit strategy is no exit strategy. The top guys have seen that active liv players have only won 2 of the 14 majors since the league started and its a waste going to LIV if you wanna compete in majors -

Disagree. PIF is an endless money pit and they have 0 reason to shut it down. -
Even though Scottie had 2 more wins at this point last season, statistically this has been a better season. He's the best driver on tour, the best ball-striker on tour, a top 25 short game and a top 25 putter. He's playing video game golf right now and it's fun to watch

The thing is the structure is basically the same, it's just that the money came from somewhere other then PIF. Dunne isn't even part of the board any more. I feel like June 6, 2023 is irrelevant now -

That was the main motivation. The PGAT doesn't even need PIF anymore, they found the money somewhere else -
Rory with his A-game can hang with Scottie for sure. Rory's starting to round back into form (T6-T2-T7 in his last 3 starts) but his floor is a lot lower then Scottie's. Rory still puts up the occasional stinker of a week like Canada or the Open last year but Scottie's floor is a top 10.

I think the framework agreement died after the White House meeting with Yasir. -

I don't think Rahm regrets it, he got $300M but for some reason he was under the impression signing with LIV would bring the 2 tours together. -

The biggest winner in all of this is Bryson. The guy got paid good money, probably has the largest fanbase of any active golfer, is a regular contender in majors and earned his way onto the RC team. -
Rahm has the SG numbers but I feel like he doesn't win as much as he should. On paper he should be cleaning up on LIV but only has 2 wins in 23 events and really there's only 10-15 competitive guys on LIV. I actually thought Rahm had around 15 wins on the PGAT but he only had 11. Scottie came on tour 3 years after Rahm and has blown past him.

100% and the cracks/signs are starting to show. LIV has already confirmed that their won't any massive signing bonuses for renewals. They gave Rahm $300M, Phil $200M, Brooks $130M, DJ/Bryson $125M, Cam Smith $100M. Even Hatton got $60M (did a quick google search and these were what I found for contract values). That's over $1B spent on 7 guys. https://www.golfmagic.com/tour/liv-golf/report-liv-golf-provides-huge-update-contract-renewals-could-affect-dustin-johnson
