  1. Nah he’s exempt til 2033 which is Oakmont
  2. I’m all for it. You can’t just destroy something or someone’s property and not expect consequences
  3. He's got a stake in takomo, primo, for wellness and is also sponsored by taylormade. Probably raking in more in endorsements then 95% of pro golfers
  4. That's Scottie's wave, so good chance he's gonna be in it come Sunday. The draw is crazy important. In 2016 the top 14 players going into the weekend had the late-early draw. https://www.sportsnet.ca/pga/article/great-golf-and-being-on-good-side-of-draw-go-a-long-way-at-the-open-championship/
  5. Can you give an actual example of who's spot Grant would've taken? All the big guns are teeing it up at The Open and the Barracuda is gonna have 100 PGAT players + 50 DPWT players. By my count nearly every player with some form of status on tour is teeing it up this week.
  6. I'm not a huge Wyndham fan and maybe there are some underlying issues that we aren't aware of but it's crazy how this is a recurring thing with him. He nearly hit a volunteer at the PGA when he threw his driver at a corporate sign. https://larrybrownsports.com/golf/wyndham-clark-club-throw-nearly-hits-volunteer/698250
  7. The condition that Wyndham needs to "attend anger management classes" is hilarious. Wonder what the statute of limitations is on that
  8. The statement he put out sounds exactly like the media rights stuff Phil was complaining about before he went to liv.
  9. Why are you hating on Golf's Super Bowl?
  10. The PGAT doesn't care about how much money Grant makes off a video. The sponsors see Grant as a medium to attract a larger audience to an otherwise sleepy event opposite a major. I'm surprised Grant thought he could just waltz on over to Tahoe and record without any issues. Whoever was advising him on this should be fired.
  11. I'm pretty sure Grant is doing just fine financially. He's sponsored by Taylormade, Primo and has a stake in Takoma.
  12. I don’t know if December would work from a network standpoint. ESPN has nba, nfl and nhl at that time and I doubt players wanna hit balls in a dome during the off-season.
  13. I don't mind TGL, it's harmless background noise. I just don't think the last match should be 2 weeks before the first major of the year. Ideally it should wrap up before the Players Championship. They could easily do a double header when the tour plays Vidanta World/Palm Beach and wrap it up Monday of Bay Hill week.
  14. It's crazy how influencers like Grant think the tour will prioritize their content over a $680M/year deal with ESPN, NBC/Golf Channel and CBS. What's even more mind-boggling is people like Wesley Bryan a former tour member can't grasp how media rights work.
  15. This post seems more apporpriate for "The 19th hole" https://forums.golfwrx.com/forum/38-the-19th-hole/
  16. You do realize the media rights deal is the reason PGAT purses are as high as they are. It's not like they're singling out Grant. No one on the PGAT including Scottie, Rory or even Tiger can have a personal film crew record them during a round and put in on youtube. I'm actually surprised Grant was caught off guard by this. This isn't just a PGAT thing. In the NFL teams and the league control the digital assets not the individual players.
  17. That isn’t the same. Netflix collaborated w the tour
  18. The tour has a multi-billion dollar media rights deal. Why would they want someone filming what is essentially an alternate broadcast
  19. NoLayingUp and The Fried Egg are the my favorite youtube golf channels. They don't bombard me with content and it's objectively good stuff highlighting cool golf courses and not just generic influencer stuff. These personalities know the rules, it's pretty cut at this point and complaining about it won't do anything.
  20. Anyone who's ever invested knew NFTs would crash. Phil is a godawful investor and I just filed that away amongst the other nonsense Phil spews
  21. The PGAT does receive $700M annually from media rights partners but I highly doubt they are hoarding that money. Their was a substantial jump from 2021 to 2022 in prize money when the new media rights deal went into effect.
  22. I’m not endorsing what Phil said and all of the stuff he said about the tour hoarding money is bs. But none of the current changes would’ve happened without LIV. It would’ve been status quo business as usual. Even Rory said the purse jump wouldn’t have happened without liv
  23. The invitationals were different from the sig events. The sig events were formed as a result of the "Delaware meeting" in 2022. Why did the purse increase not happened pre-liv? The new rights deal went into effect in 2022. Do you actually think these guys would be playing in $20M fields and getting equity in the tour without liv
  24. I'm not saying Phil was right on everything, that'd be giving him too much credit. But the comments in that interview did foreshadow a lot of the changes that have gone into effect on the tour: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reshape how the PGA Tour operates. They use the top guys to make their own situation better, but the top guys don’t have a say. Players are a minority on the all-powerful PGA Tour Policy Board, holding only four of the nine seats. Looking at these one by one: The PGAT structure is way different then it was 3 years. Their were no signature events, every week on tour was the same. The tour made that change within months of LIV's formation. The top guys now have equity in the PGAT. Pretty self-explanatory Finally PGAT players are a majority on the policy board. If you get past his crazy rhetoric it's insane how the PGAT implemented a lot of what Phil was saying 3 years ago.
