I know I've told this before but it bears repeating. Couple of years ago I played in a Pro-Am with our Director of Instruction. Our Course Superintendent and I shared a cart. He had music going but was kind enough to ask if there was anything in particular I'd like to listen to. I asked him if he could cue up any Beethoven. He did find a concert piece and played it but after that he didn't ask me again.

I think a lot of people do music 24/7... in the house, in the car, with earbuds, during a round of golf. Sound effects or music to put us to sleep. I feel maybe those folks can't have silence in their brains... can't listen to their own inner thoughts, so there always needs to be background noise. Just like always having the TV or radio on in the background.

I think the US has the preeminent golfer, but there's a fairly sharp drop off after that. Let's wait until the Ryder Cup and see what happens.

Kudos to Bryson. The super strong winds never materialized or his high tee shots and irons would have been penalized. Though he must have nicely managed to miss the difficult rough most of the time. P.S. - I liked his comment on the photo, "I didn't fully get to the position I wanted to be in." We didn't even know he had sex the night before...

I absolutely never call anyone out on this forum, even myself (except for Ti-Scape because his was unintentionally funny). Typos are a way of life when typing fast. But the one on that signage was glaring and egregious. Not sure how old that sign is but someone must have called that out as soon as the sign went up. Surprised it wasn't fixed.

That was probably dreamed up by some non-golfing power company employee who thought golfers would intentionally hit the wire. That's almost like intentionally trying to make a hole in one.

I just read the same story right after I posted. Interesting stuff.

The only camera on the course doing a close up of a player's ball should be that of Patrick Reed. It's almost as if the TV coverage was looking for an infraction. Sure, show the ball so we can see the gnarliness of its lie in the rough, but then pull back. If anything, it looks like Lowry ended up with a worse lie, lower in the rough. And as an aside, golfers might want to start thinking about standing much farther away from the ball for a practice swing in the rough. It seems that kind of rough is intertwined for a foot or so.

At least you can't phone in a penalty from the comfort of your couch in front of your TV anymore.

I thought you already knew that. Mostly, I bought it for the gadgetry. I don't particularly like BMWs but I do like the gizmos. More of an Audi guy.

My BMW came with them and I think it's just silly, especially since it's an automatic. I did shift it into manual transmission once and played with them. Essentially, all they do is get in the way of where I like to hold the steering wheel.
