I haven't booked by phone for about 20 years. That would tee me off. You should call the pro shop and take about 15 minutes to book, going through all the open times, asking who is in that group, what's the weather going to be like and will a cart girl be on duty that day? At the 16 minute mark let them know you're booking by phone to avoid the "convenience fee".

The only reason Lowry is in my line-up of Open picks is because the guy owns his own pub. And it is rated as one of the top 10 pubs in Ireland. How could I go wrong there?

The secret to my success is setting aside Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday to play golf with buddies. At a standing tee time of 10:00 a.m. . The other days of the week are for chores, errands, appointments and/or range sessions. This way everyone who wants to play can plan out their time well in advance. Those three days of the week for me are sacred and pretty much untouchable. For instance, today is Saturday and I'm going to pick up some brake fluid and buy a few groceries. And wash the car.
