  1. Bonus tip: A trip to Superstition Mountain for a Right Eye Dominant golfer who is young and flexible, and has played baseball......might work out well. ....that same trip with a less flexible, left eye dominant golfer......oh no...no, no, no....
  2. I'd make a correction there. On longer clubs it is less imperative you get on the lead side. More likely it damages the club delivery. You can drive the ball awesome off the back foot, can't hit wedges that way.
  3. We're just brain noodling this stuff around. It sounds like you're looking for categorical evidence backed up by objective data/measurements, as well as first person eye witness testimony and the individual player's video taped confessionals. It's almost as if you think you're on Golfwrx right now. I have no idea if Patrick Cantlay is right eye dominant, nor do I know the true nature of of the cause and effect relationships involved in the origin story of his swing mechanics...but I know which way I would guess.
  4. If we had to guess, what do we think this guys might be?
  5. I'm not right eye dominant, I cross dominant. ...but yes, right eye dominant players should cover the ball more and they will tend to be a smidge steeper w/ AOA an more handle lean...which kind of come as a two for one sale. You don't have to hit a pull cut, but it is easier to do that. I'd probably set my Right Eye players up to start the ball relatively straight with a tendency for the ball to fall right. Maybe a slightly more penetrating launch angle. ...but we'll never know until you post your swing. Don't worry about getting torn apart by the vultures--I'll tell you when they are saying stupid things.
  6. Don’t know how good of a Trevino that is but the ball was a baby fade. No where near over the top. OTT is downswing hand path out with shaft tipping over.
  7. Do less of these things: More torso lean away form target on backswing and maintained in downswing Head turns more to the right and bigger hip turn in backswing Weaker/more neutral grip More vertical swing plane More arm swing operating independent of pivot Less torso rotation throught impact--more lateral pelvis shift More forearm rotation to square face--Cwox type A release (less early left wrist extension) More open/neutral clubface on backswing More dark voodoo connection of left arm spacer to torso Higher traj Suits draw pattern well Less forward handle lean at impact Head swivel releases later in follow through Stronger laterals vs rotation shear in GRF vs RED Pattern Less plane shallowing in transition
  8. Ok, I’m just trying to have a precise understanding of what you guys are saying. It sounds like using a trigger that turns the head to the right for right eye dominant players may not be good, but perhaps turning the head to the right in the backswing is ok and not disruptive to the motion.
  9. So are we deciding: head movement to the right is not good for right eye dominant? Just trying to see if there is a consensus, or no?
  10. Gotcha, so that is an alignment thing, not a swing motion thing. So, turning head to the right, or not, has no influence on backswing turn, ie, Iacas can turn shoulders 115 degrees and keep both eyes on the ball. Admittedly, he might be an outlier is your turn influenced by your address head position?
  11. So, turning head to the right, ala Nicklaus, is worse?
  12. Are you trying to keep “right eye on the ball” currently?
  13. Thanks for coming in, Jay. There is coffee and donuts in the corner of the room.
  14. Since you’re pushing back on that argument a bit, I’m going to assume that as a right eye dominant golfer, you’ve done better when your right eye is more “on the ball”, and when you’ve turned your head to the right, things have gone worse.
  15. Yeah, none of us are experts. We are just trying to explore the ideas through the discussion. I’m trying to steelman the argument that: “you’d almost surely want your non-dominant eye to be able to see the ball a bit more than your dominant one…”
  16. Because we want to “favor” the depth perception eye.
  17. Sure, we want to keep everything as 3D as possible, but still favor the opposite of the aiming eye to enhance depth perception.
  18. This is actually an interesting counter argument. If true, then we might should encourage the right eye golfers to turn their heads more to the right on the backswing because that would center the ball more in their left eye’s field of vision, thereby enhancing the depth perception. This would also open up range of motion for the backswing shoulder rotation.
  19. You should have someone at a local golf shop bend the lean out of the shaft on your putter. The head has 3 loft, and the shaft is leaned 3 forward, equaling 6. Bend the shaft back to zero lean. It will look and roll much better.
