Slo mo swing repetitions. Your experience
mshills replied to naval2006's topic in Instruction & Academy
Slow drills of certain movements, yes, sometimes slowed down to the point of barely moving. It’s a great way to start to re-train away from a flawed movement. Slow motion full swings, never. Can’t see the use in that. -
Why doesn't everyone putt sidesaddle ?
mshills replied to davidy1948's topic in Instruction & Academy
Side saddle here, I am a bit over 6’1” and use a 43” Grace F22. What works for me: R foot forward Ball one putter width R and one putter width in front of my R foot The longer the putt, I’ll have the ball start creeping back towards me; the distance R of my foot is constant. Claw grip with R hand I do not try to keep my L arm pinned or locked in place — that makes me feel like I’m using all small twitchy muscles down my R arm. Not sure how to articulate this — I just let that side relax and feel “fluid.” I was SS most of last season, and at some point lost all feel on long putts, so I went back conventional in an attempt to get the feels back, then back to SS this summer. I have about six weeks of quite good putting going, hoping it sticks. From 12’ and in SS is just fantastic for me. Longer putts are not as intuitive but this is my second season with this method and it is much improved. I still have the odd lag putt that comes shockingly short about once a round, but I can’t really blame the method for that, it is the man using the method. One nuance I run into from time to time. I’m an adaptive player and in many tournaments there are two upper arm divisions — assisted and unassisted. Unassisted means “the impaired arm never touches the club while making any stroke” and the course yardage is much shorter for this division. The issue is my L hand touches the club for SS putting — in an event I entered this winter, doing that would have made the course 500 yards 😯 longer. That’s a lot more golf course, and considering the unassisted was already 6100 yards I was not about to tee it up at 6600. So in those events I go back to a 35” conventional putter unless an exception is made for putting. -

😁 Yeah mine wasn’t covering the pin. I hit a perfect 6h 25’ left of the pin. That all feeds down to the right there, it fed all right and damn near found the jar! -

Oh yeah. Our pro comes out to verify all of them, solo or not, and you better know your ball number or he won’t validate it. I just didn’t want my first ace to be by myself. No way! Not festive enough, but that’s as close as I’ve come since 2017 I think. -

😁 I was hollering at it to not go in. Playing solo late Sunday afternoon and getting my first ace (started playing in 1989) would have been lame! -

We were back to 11.5 yesterday. Greens are decent, they are pretty stressed from too much moisture, heat, and a lot of play, but this week will help as it’s supposed to cool off some on Wed. Greens did not “get” me until #17. Drove it in the trees left. Elite punch-out game gets me a third shot 95 yards from the fairway to the most severe green on the course. Hit a PW pin high 20’ right….no good at all. That putt is straight downhill and breaks 4’ right to left. Tickled it down, it just misses catching the back door and continues almost to the front of the green. Now I have 30’ up the hill for bogey, and you can’t run it by, so I’m now 3’ short for double, which I managed to get in the cup. Three putt double. ☠️ -
They work ok. No better or worse than other smaller carry bags, nowhere near as bad as like a MacKenzie or OG Jones, so they do ok.

That is about right. My whole bag is built by WRX. D and FW woods were a little less time, iron set was every bit of 12 weeks and worth the wait. If you have a good rep they can keep you pretty informed on the timeline.

Thank you man. I love this game so much I still play like that. 🙏 That purple shirt might get retired. Don’t know how, got a massive bloody nose out of nowhere the hole after this video and the shirt took a beating. Don’t think that is coming out. -

Not quite the extension I used to get after impact @chisag 😂 but at least I’m not humpin’ the goat and I am giving myself some room. In all seriousness I am trying to work on getting a little weight transfer forward, that L side lower body is finally strong enough I should be able to get that happening. -

I hit it a little further when it’s hot and humid. Pretty happy with this one. IMG_4767.mov -

Weird weather pattern….it heated up, then rain, but the rain did not cool things off one bit. It kept heating up and was just a total hotbox. My wrestler younger son asked me “did you make weight?” when I got home. 🤣 -

I’d be all over that. Just played, 92* ambient, 80% humidity! -
Sorry Rant on Entitled "Members"

If the members don’t like those leagues, they better have a full grasp of what it would mean if the course did not have them. Those prepaid rounds might cost 2x or 3x. Or the course could close up. They bring in that much $, and even more important, the league brings a predictable, recurring $ amount. My place is totally private and we host outside events on some Mondays. Maintenance and greenskeeping work around them — they bring in a pile of money and are generally organizations that do quite a lot of good for the community, so it’s a win/win. -

Nope. An especially hard No to guys who think “I’m a member, I live on #5, so I will jump out and play #5-#13 any time I want.” This might work at 1% of full private clubs, particularly those not in booming, busy areas. This would never be ok at a semi private, no way no how. -

100%. “Semi private” 😂 all that means is prepaid tee times. Not the same thing as a private club. -
So true. Man, how much better would everyone be if they understood this! Best shot I hit yesterday was from 110 yards and I hit a dang 9i, felt like waist high, to six inches. I could hit a small bucket of 52* from there and might not get one that tight.

That’s a Smathers & Branson headcover. They make NICE stuff, the headcovers and belts are tremendous. Nice taste there! I sure do wish we had a line of push carts like that at my place. We have some walkers, everyone carries. Probably 6 guys push….I am one of them but not this time of year. 2:30 tee time with the missus today. -
Titleist bags aren’t what they used to be — mine has not worn well at all and several guys at my place have the same complaint. The best carry bag is the Sun Mountain 2.5, followed by the Ping Moonlander and the Hoofer Lite.
